It all began almost 30 years ago when Gene Deardorf was involved in a demolition project. His sense for the rebuilding and construction of something new was born. During this time, he also connected with a landscaping company where he learned appreciation for the design of land and how it worked together with good construction.  After four years of learning the trade and developing his ideas, Gene started the building construction business in 1985 by building his first home.  Through this experience, he came to know of the challenges and rewards of construction. He began to understand the details and material science that went along in the home construction and remodeling business.  He continued to build homes for four years and in 1989 Gene formally established his company, Gene Deardorf & Company Builders, Incorporated, which focused on custom building, home remodeling, room additions and room refinishing.
